In a Vase on Monday: Summer Sunshine!
Although today’s vase was actually put together several days ago, I feel it exudes so much joy and sunshine that I am using it as my Monday vase.
I also think the colours might appeal to my niece, Hannah, who is moving into her new house at the end of the week with her husband Martin. This one’s for you Hannah! Shame I can’t bring it over as a housewarming vase!
There are so many lovely flowers in there, picked simply for their beauty rather than any theme. The Zinnias stand out for me. These are from a seed pack called ‘Bumblebee’ and I will definitely be buying them again next year. They are the prettiest I have seen or grown so far.
Maybe I am biased, because my favourite colours at the moment are pink and orange…
Aren’t these colours simply delicious?
The big yellow daisy type flower is Heliopsis ‘Sommersonne’, and it outshines any other yellow flower I grow.
Here is a list of some of the other flowers I used, but I bet I will have forgotten something….
Perennial sweet peas in pink and white/pale pink, Verbena bonariensis, Tanacetum parthenium, Echinacea pallida, Scabiosa ochroleuca, Buddleia, Sanguisorba obtusa, Helenium ‘Sahin’s Early Flowerer’, Knautia macedonica, Japanese anemone foliage, some seedheads of the lovely Melica ciliata grass and Scabiosa ‘Perfecta Blue’.
If you haven’t met the In a Vase on Monday meme before, go and visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and others are plucking from their gardens this week. I hope you and your gardens have been coping with the heat – we have a few cooler days as a breather before the dog days kick in again next week and I will be making the most of it outdoors.
Happy Gardening!
