In a Vase on Monday: Graceful Endurance
This Monday I am sharing a lovely vase full of hellebores, with a couple of my first tall Narcissi for good measure.
And they really do deserve to be shown off after enduring some rather extreme temperatures over the weekend: +18°C on Saturday (a heatwave for April!), followed by a crash down to -3°C within a few hours, accompanied by that hefty north wind again. And then even colder this morning: -5°C . And yet they go on.
A few are flagging… well, they have been flowering for weeks now so I can forgive them. And time will tell how well they last in my vase. (I had some in a vase looking wonderful for three weeks, while others last only a day!)
Three cheers for hellebores!
The vase is the cut glass daffodil vase my Mum gave me last year. It may never be filled entirely with daffs, as we find the scent a little too much indoors, but one or two mixed in are a nice reminder that they are about to flower en masse outdoors.
Many thanks to Cathy at ‘Rambling in the Garden‘ for hosting!
Have a great week!
