In a Vase on Monday: Angels’ Tears
I am sure my garden angel is not weeping, but if she is then they are tears of joy rather than sadness, with all these lovely flowers beside her!
These sweet little Narcissi triandrus ‘Hawera’ have been in my Herb Bed for several years now.
When I looked up their name I discovered that they are called Angels’ Tears daffodils and that Hawera is a town in New Zealand. So I am dedicating this vase to my long lost New Zealand friend Jan, who I haven’t seen for over 30 years but recently found online and we have been in touch again.
I added some of these lovely orange tulips that reappear in the Herb Bed every year too…. this is the driest and probably hottest spot in summer and the coldest spot in winter, so I conclude that tulips simply don’t like damp ground in the winter.
In any case these are the only ones that have proved to be completely reliable. If only I could be sure of the name… most likely Orange Emperor.
Some Aquilegia foliage (no flowers yet) and a few of the pretty blue creeping forget-me-nots, Omphalodes verna. These seem to spread only by their roots and not seed, so I can keep them in a nice clump without worrying about them taking over. Here they are in the Butterfly Bed…
I realized that spring is moving along at such a pace, I should use my Viola doily before it is out of season! I made this one summer (2015 to be exact) after my sister found the vintage pattern, inspired by a doily I had seen on Eliza’s blog earlier that year. Which means I must have been following Eliza for 10 years now! So now I should dedicate this vase to Eliza too, who has just posted a snowy scene and is no doubt in need of some spring flowers.
And finally, I should also mention Cathy at Rambling in the Garden, without whom I wouldn’t have met many of my blogging friends. Thanks for hosting In a Vase on Monday so consistently over the years Cathy!

Have a great week everyone, and Happy Gardening!
