In a Vase on Monday: November Beauty
I look forward to my lovely Chrysanthemum ‘Anastasia’ blooming at the end of the garden season and was a little worried she wouldn’t make it this year… we had such a cool autumn and a very chilly and damp start to November, with little sunshine. But despite rain, snow and frosts she is finally in flower!
I have given her a vase to herself, partly because she deserves it, but also because there is little to pick at the moment. I shall be ‘stretching’ my vase material over the next few weeks I suspect, although I do already have a Hellebore in flower.
Anastasia is a hardy Chrysanthemum with small pompom type flowers. I think she looks stunning considering the weather we have had!
Many thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for regularly hosting this weekly meme. She also kindly organized a virtual meeting of a group of vase appreciators/creators last night and it was lovely to hear what has been giving other gardeners pleasure in their gardens this year. We also learned a lot about the National Garden Scheme in England; there is no equivalent here in southern Germany – in fact gardens open to the public are few and far between.
However, if you would like a virtual look at what grows in this part of the world, my annual ‘A Week of Flowers‘ will begin on this coming Saturday… more information on that in my intro post tomorrow. So in the meantime, have a great day everyone!
