In a Vase on Monday: Pizazz!

The dictionary definition of pizazz is ‘the power of irresistible attraction’. Perfect for describing the flowers that simply drew me towards them in the garden on Sunday, while choosing flowers for my Monday vase.

It is beginning to look very autumnal in the garden now, with the grasses – in particular the Miscanthus – at their peak. So that is where I started and I cut three sprigs of Miscanthus ‘Red Chief’.

Turning towards the Moon Bed I just had to cut some of this Aster – Aster dumosus ‘Blauer Gletscher’ – that has been flowering for a few weeks already and is such a vibrant blue. I think it is one of the bluest (along with ‘Mönch’).

And as contrast, some orange was needed, as I already had in mind the dark brown glazed vase I wanted to use. One Tithonia flower was still in a decent enough state for a vase, and then I remembered I had a single dahlia flower I could use too – Dahlia ‘Bishop of Oxford’. A bronzing sunflower also caught my eye in The ‘Edge, near the Tithonia, and the dark red foliage of a Physocarpus too.

The arrangement is small enough for a table decoration that you can look over, but with so much pizazz that it cannot be overlooked. 😁

Hopefully some bigger arrangements will still be possible in the next few weeks. But whatever I find to share, I am always happy to join Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for her lovely Monday meme.

Have a great week and Happy Gardening!
